If you have teeth that are chipped, crooked, gappy, stained, damaged or missing altogether, smiling may not always come easy to you. The fear of being judged when you smile can become really ingrained, and can also cause a dent in your expression and self confidence. But with the help of cosmetic dentistry, it is easy to address these flaws and sometimes, even eliminate them completely – so that you can smile without being conscious or guarded, and feel good about it too!
What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is no less than an art form in itself, with an intention to reignite the magic in your smile. This is a specialized branch of dentistry with a focus on improving and enhancing the appearance of the teeth, smile and mouth. A small improvement in the appearance of a smile can result in a dramatic change in the overall appearance of the face, not to mention a boost in self confidence.
The types of cosmetic dental treatments at our Bundoora clinic
We offer a variety of dental treatments in-clinic, and depending on the results our clients want, they may need just one or a combination of treatments.
- Teeth Whitening
Teeth can develop stains over time due to food and beverages, medication or lifestyle habits like smoking. Our professional grade teeth whitening services can help to noticeably brighten your smile in a single visit, by lightening stains and other discolourations. While this is a short in-clinic treatment, we also offer custom created whitening trays with a specially created solution that you can use to whiten your teeth even at home. This is one of our most popular cosmetic treatments at the moment.
- Cosmetic Bonding
Bonding is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to improve the appearance of the smile, especially when there is decay, damage or discolouration that cannot be corrected with tooth whitening. We use a tooth-coloured composite resin to achieve a natural look. This resin is applied over the tooth surface and then sculpted into the right shape, after which it gets cured by a high intensity light. Sometimes, we also use this to fill in the gaps between two teeth.
- Porcelain Veneers
Dental veneers are an excellent choice to help restore the lost beauty of a tooth, especially when the teeth are crooked, cracked, damaged or have gaps in between. Custom-made, translucent porcelain shells are bonded over the front surface of teeth, to restore the lost beauty of your smile. We also use the advanced CEREC technology to fabricate custom veneers for you in just one visit. Apart from being completely non-invasive, an added advantage is the fact that porcelain veneers are highly durable.
- Inlays and outlays
Also called indirect fillings, these are made from materials like porcelain or other composite materials and are used to fill up decayed or damaged teeth. These are not just a cosmetic treatment, but also have a functional aspect to them, as they give additional support to strengthen teeth, restore their shape and prevent further decay to preserve as much of healthy teeth as possible.
