Wisdom Teeth Removal
At Plenty Smiles, we provide a full suite of services to meet your needs. At all stages of life, you can get the dental care you require with our team. We have years of experience and extensive training in several areas to offer the best possible care to members of our community.
If you are concerned about the health of a tooth, our qualified team will examine you to determine the best course of action. In any case, our priority is always on saving your natural teeth. If a tooth is no longer vital, however, it may need to be removed. Some of the most common extractions involve wisdom teeth, which are the last to grow in towards the back of the mouth. If they create crowding or erupt improperly, having them removed can prevent more serious problems from occurring in the future.

Monitoring Your Wisdom Teeth
If you are a regular patient with us, part of your six-monthly checkups will be to look at your wisdom teeth and see whether they need to be extracted. We will examine them to ensure that they don’t cause any problems for surrounding teeth or start to feel painful. If so, it may be time to consider having them removed. Your dentist will let you know about any red flags identified during your examination.
The Appointment for Extraction
When you need an extraction, we will book a separate appointment so that time is set aside just for you. Your dentist will detail what will occur doing the procedure. That includes letting you know what your options for sedation are. After completing the extraction, your dentist will inform you of how the procedure went and let you know of all aftercare instructions. You’ll know precisely what to do to ensure that you recover properly from the procedure.
You’ll have a follow-up visit within 1-2 weeks to check on the extraction site and make sure that it’s healing appropriately.

Your Recovery Times
You don’t want to be stuck at home and have to sit out of your daily activities. In some cases, however, you need to allow your body some days to do the healing work at the extraction site. Most people go to work the day following their extraction. Some others might need to stay home for a couple of days. We can supply you with medication for any pain and a doctor’s certificate to show your employer. Your recovery process will be tailored to your needs and the level of extraction you’ve had done.
